Panda Loach – Beautiful and Peaceful Freshwater Loach
The Panda Loach (Yaoshania pachychilus) is a rare, peaceful freshwater loach native to Southern China. Juveniles show striking white and black vertical stripes, while adults develop gold and black reticulated patterns. This loach is ideal for mature aquariums rich in algae and biofilm, providing both beauty and activity in planted or community tanks.

Key Characteristics & Care
Appearance: Juvenile black and white stripes; adult gold and black patterns.
Temperament: Peaceful, social, and active, especially in groups.
Diet: Omnivorous; requires algae, biofilm, and occasional frozen or dry foods.
Tankmates: Compatible with small peaceful fish and dwarf shrimp.
Tank Requirements: Minimum 20 gallons, moderate to high water flow, well-maintained aquarium, high oxygen levels.
Temperature & Water: 68–75°F (20–23.9°C), pH 6.5–7.5, KH 4–8 dKH.
The Panda Loach thrives in colonies, displaying fascinating social behavior. It is completely safe with plants and will not harm them, making it an excellent addition to a mature, heavily planted aquarium.
