Otocinclus is one of the most peaceful freshwater fish for nano, community, and planted aquariums. This small catfish is well known for its strong algae-eating ability and calm temperament. Otocinclus uses its sucker mouth to graze algae from glass, plants, and décor, making it a reliable natural cleanup fish.

Behavior & Compatibility

Otocinclus is highly social and should always be kept in groups of three or more. When kept properly, Otocinclus remains calm and active throughout the tank. It is completely safe with shrimp, snails, live plants, and other peaceful fish. This species thrives in well-oxygenated aquariums with good filtration and gentle to moderate flow.
