A rocky aquascape with multiple tight caves is essential, as this species relies heavily on shelter for security and breeding. Strong water flow and excellent filtration are critical for long-term success.

Diet and Feeding

The L046 Zebra Pleco is carnivorous and does not rely on algae as a primary food source. It thrives on high-quality sinking pellets, frozen foods, and live meaty options such as bloodworms and brine shrimp. A protein-rich diet supports healthy growth and coloration.

Behavior and Compatibility

This species is peaceful but very shy. It is best kept in small groups of its own kind or with calm, non-competitive tankmates. Males can become territorial during breeding, especially around caves, but aggression is generally limited and manageable in a well-designed setup.
