Java Fern 'Philippine' is a stunning aquatic fern featuring distinctive wavy, dark green leaves that add elegant texture to any aquascape. This hardy epiphytic plant thrives in low-light conditions with minimal CO2, making it perfect for beginners and nano tanks alike. Simply attach it to driftwood or rocks—no substrate planting needed. It tolerates a wide range of water parameters (pH 6.0-7.5, temperature 20-28°C), adapting effortlessly to most aquarium setups. Its slow growth and compact form make it ideal for detailed aquascapes where you want precise plant placement and long-term stability.
Appearance: Medium to dark green, slender, wavy, or "hammered" textured leaves.
Size: Smaller than standard Java Fern, making it great for foreground or nano tanks.
Growth: Slow to moderate, forms dense clusters.
Light: Low to medium; avoid intense light to prevent algae.
Water: Tolerates a wide range (pH 6.0-7.5, 20-28°C), but avoid sudden changes.
CO2/Fertilizer: Low demand; not required.
Planting: Attach the rhizome (creeping stem) to driftwood, rocks, or décor with thread/glue; do not bury the rhizome in substrate, or it will rot
Maintenance: Trim individual leaves, not the whole plant, to maintain size and shape; remove old/melted leaves from the base
