Anubias Dragon Claw Aquarium Plant
Anubias Dragon Claw is a visually striking freshwater aquarium plant admired for its dramatic leaf shape and rugged appearance. Native to tropical regions of Central and Western Africa, Anubias Dragon Claw naturally grows along riverbanks, streams, and marshy environments. Its hardy nature and slow growth make it an excellent choice for both beginner and advanced aquarists looking for a reliable yet ornamental plant for planted aquariums.

Appearance and Structure
Anubias Dragon Claw features thick, dark green leaves with deep veins and a distinctive claw-like shape, giving the plant its unique name. The leaves are broad, slightly elongated, and firm in texture, allowing them to resist damage from fish and water movement. Due to its moderate height, Anubias Dragon Claw works well as a midground plant and blends seamlessly into natural aquascaping layouts.
Care and Maintenance
As a rhizomatous species, Anubias Dragon Claw should never have its rhizome buried in substrate. Instead, it thrives when attached to rocks or driftwood. This plant prefers water temperatures between 22°C and 28°C and performs best in slightly acidic to neutral water with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. Anubias Dragon Claw grows well under low to moderate lighting and does not require CO₂ supplementation, making it ideal for low-maintenance setups.
Growth and Propagation
Anubias Dragon Claw propagates through rhizome division. As it matures, new shoots develop and can be separated carefully to create additional plants. Its slow growth rate minimizes frequent trimming and helps maintain a clean aquascape.
Aquarium Benefits
The sturdy leaves of Anubias Dragon Claw provide shelter for small fish and invertebrates while enhancing the overall visual depth of the aquarium. Its adaptability and durability make it a long-lasting addition to freshwater tanks.
