Aglaonema simplex is a striking herbaceous plant from the Araceae family, native to the wild regions of South Asia. Also known as Malayan Sword or Borneo Sword, this versatile species thrives in both soil and underwater environments, making it ideal for aquatic setups and boggy conditions. With its rapid growth rate and minimal care requirements, Aglaonema simplex is perfect for both beginners and experienced aquarists. Simply provide regular fertilization to help the plant establish itself, and watch it flourish with vibrant foliage that adds natural beauty to any aquarium or water garden.

Appearance: Dark green, lance-shaped, leathery leaves, often used for its foliage in tropical setups.

Native Habitat: Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Philippines, Borneo).

Best For: Paludariums, terrariums, ripariums, bog gardens, and shallow edges of aquariums.

Light: Low to medium light intensity.

Water: Prefers moist, well-drained soil or shallow water; not for long-term full submersion.

Humidity: High humidity is ideal.

Temperature: Tropical range (22-28°C / 72-82°F).

Growth: Slow to moderate, hardy, and easy for beginners. 

Soil: Nutrient-rich substrate with good drainage.

Fertilizer: Benefits from regular root feeding in emersed setups.
